Computer Maintenance
Computer
systems have become necessary in our everyday lives. Computers
contain electronic components and software that are in need of regular
maintenance. Students will learn the skills necessary
to service and repair personal computers: hardware identi-fication, upgrading,
configuring, cleaning, installing and updating software including operating
systems such as Windows 98, 2000, XP, and Linux.
Prerequisites: Pre-Algebra and Computer Applications.

Computer Networking
Networking is the practice of linking computer devices together with hardware and software that supports data communications across these devices. During this course students will learn the skills necessary to become a network technician through the study of basic network concepts including design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques. Students will also install structured cabling, cable modems, routers, hubs, switches and patch panels. Because we are experiencing an explosive growth in controlled lighting, security, and home theater, home automation products and smart solutions are also taught in this class. You will be introduced to electronic and futuristic gadgets for the home, business, car, and even your pet! Smart Home Technology will prepare the students for the home automation industry. The topics covered will include networking, audio/visual, security, tele-communications, lighting management, systems integration, and climate control.

Computer Programming
Discover the information you need to begin writing real computer programs in the most widely used programming language in the world: Visual Basic.net. This course is an introduction to the various aspects of computer programming concentrating on creating Windows applications. An emphasis is placed on fundamental programming concepts, including variables, decision structures, loops, procedures, arrays, and files. An introduction into object-oriented programming, and the creation and deployment of applications will be covered.
