The recreational water craft industry has a growing need for skilled people to repair and maintain inboard, stern drives, personal water craft and boats. In the Power Sports Technology two-year program, you'll gain skills that will lead to employment in a fun and rewarding field. Students will receive training in basic operation of two and four cycle engines. The course will cover estimating, terminology, tools, tune-up, maintenance and troubleshooting. Actual work experience will be accomplished by working on training engines and customer's engines. Although excellent textbooks are used, the program emphasizes "hands-on," practical training. Students learn where information can be found in shop manuals and other references. Most of the program content is presented through lectures, slides, films, videotapes, demonstrations, and laboratory work which helps to provide a completed under-standing of course work. This is particularly important for those students who prefer to learn by doing, listening, and observing. Service Technicians, Service Managers, Shop Owners and Manufacturers' Technical Representatives are just a few of the careers available in this field, and dealer demand continues to be strong.
